Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a document to Markdown?

Drag and drop your file onto the DocToMD window, or go to File → Open and select your document. DocToMD supports PDF, Word (.docx), RTF, HTML and Pages files.

The Markdown result appears instantly in the editor on the left, with a live preview on the right.

How do I export to HTML, PDF or Word?

Export requires DocToMD Pro. Once unlocked, go to File → Export… and choose your format: HTML, PDF, RTF or Word (.docx).

How does batch conversion work?

Batch conversion is a Pro feature. Click the batch icon in the toolbar (or use File → Convert Folder…), select a folder, and DocToMD will convert all compatible documents to Markdown files in one step.

How do I restore my Pro purchase?

Go to the DocToMD menu in the menu bar and choose Restore Purchase. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used when you first purchased Pro.

Is DocToMD a subscription?

No. DocToMD Pro is a one-time purchase — no subscription, no recurring charges.

Does DocToMD collect any data?

No. All document processing happens entirely on your Mac. DocToMD never uploads, transmits, or stores any of your files or content. The app is fully sandboxed and works completely offline.

Which macOS versions are supported?

DocToMD requires macOS 13 Ventura or later.

The conversion result looks incorrect — what can I do?

Conversion quality depends on the source document. For best results:

  • Use well-structured Word or RTF documents (with proper headings)
  • Avoid heavily formatted or scanned PDF files
  • You can always edit the Markdown directly in the editor after conversion
